The generosity of local philanthropists and donors in the general area of Gurunagar, Jaffna enabled 17 Gemunu Watch (17 GW) troops of the 512 Infantry Brigade under the 51 Infantry Division of the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna to supply a stock of school accessories for needy kids learning at the Community Centre Pre-School, Reclamation West, Gurunagar in Jaffna on Thursday (20 July).

Accordingly, 60 kids at this pre-school received those incentives from Brigadier L.G.J.N Ariyathilaka RSP, Commander, 512 Infantry Brigade who was invited to the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The 512 Infantry Brigade serving the area found that those kids from low-income group families were short of necessary learning materials and accessories and decided to search sponsors to buy those essentials to the kids.

Responding positively to the Army initiative several donors in the area got together and spent for the cost of those accessories, inclusive of different books, pencils, colour pencils, pastel, etc.

Commanding Officer, 17 GW, several Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
