The Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) Regimental HQ at Ambepussa in conformity with traditions greeted and extended felicitation to its recently-promoted Major General Kanishka Heiyanthuduwa, Defence Advisor and the Minister Counsellor (Defence) at Pakistan High Commission in Islamabad on 30 December 2022.

Upon his arrival, Colonel Wajira Amarasiri, Deputy Centre Commandant at SLSR HQ warmly received the day’s Chief Guests and accorded a Guard Turnout at the entrance and greeted him with military formalities. Later, the Centre Commandant, Brigadier Nishantha Muthumala and Parade Commander invited the day’s protagonist to review the Guard of Honour, accorded in his honour and received the salute of SLSR troops.

Major General Kanishka Heiyanthuduwa afterwards laid a floral wreath at the SLSR War Heroes’ Monument and paid tribute to the memory of those valiant War Heroes in a solemn ceremony. He posed for a group photograph at the Officers’ mess afterwards and joined refreshments.

Major General Priyantha Jayawardene, Quarter Master General and Colonel of the Regiment SLSR greeted him at the venue presenting a token of appreciation to Major General Kanishka Heiyanthuduwa symbolizing his promotion to the rank of Major General.

Senior Officers including SLSR council members and their spouses were associated with the day’s proceedings.
