SF West Troops with Sponsor Support Renovate Two School Buildings

Troops of the 6 Sri Lanka Artillery (6 SLA) and 3 (V) Gemunu Watch (3 (V) GW) troops of the Security Force HQ-West separately completed renovation of two buildings in two schools at Yatawaka Primary School in Urapola and Walakanda Central College, located at Puhuwella and formally vested them in school authorities on Wednesday (Dec 07) and Friday (Dec 09).
6 SLA troops renovated the unattended library building at Yatawaka Primary School in Urapola with the financial support given for both projects by MAS LEGATO Company Ltd and left it for students on Friday (Dec 09). The project was conducted under the instructions of Major General Rohan Jayamanna, General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division and under the guidance of Brigadier Bandula Kariyawasam, Commander, 141 Infantry Brigade.
Lieutenant Colonel A.H.M.T Gunarathne, Commanding Officer of 6 SLA closely supervised the project. During its formal handover, a total of 200 books worth Rs. 60,000 and a photocopy machine, worth Rs.1,20,000, sponsored by the same MAS LEGATO Company Ltd.
Meanwhile, 3 (V) GW troops fully plastered a building at Walakanda Central College at Puhulwella which remained abandoned due to lack of financial resources, labour and materials. Troops after full completion of the plastering the building formally informed the school authorities on Wednesday (Dec 07).
The project was conducted under the instructions of Major General Udaya Herath, General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division and under the guidance of Colonel Indika Jayaweera, Commander of the 613 Infantry Brigade. Major P.A.G.A.P Madiththapola closely supervised the project and 3 (V) GW soldiers’ work.
