In parallel with the World Human Rights Day (10 December), troops of the 14 Division of Security Force Headquarters - West on 09 December at the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda joined an awareness programme on Friday (9).

The lectures were conducted by the Director of Education and Special programme of Human Rights Commission in Sri Lanka Ms. Menaka Herath and the Director of Inquiries and Investigation, Ms. Sulari Liyanagama. They lectured on “Fundamental Rights, Children’s Rights, Prisoners’ Rights, Labour Rights/Workers Rights etc. Around 50 Officers and 150 Other Ranks participated in the awareness project.

As per the direction of the Commander of the Army, it was held under the supervision of the Commander Security Forces - West, Major General Deepal Pusssella along with the Directorate of HR and IHL which coordinated the event.
