MIR’s Housing Project for Soldiers Opens Two More Houses

The Mechanized Infantry Regiment’s (MIR) treasured project for construction of five new houses for deserving soldiers of MIR battalions resulted in completion of two more houses in Diyabeduma and Galgamuwa.
A Senior Non Commissioned Officer of the 2 MIR accordingly received the keys of the new house erected for him at Galgamuwa from the architect of the project, Major General Channa Weerasooriya, Colonel of the Regiment MIR and Deputy Chief of Staff on Saturday (12) during a simple ceremony.
The construction of the new house was sponsored jointly by the MIR Regimental Centre and the MIR Seva Vanitha Branch on a conceptual guidance of Major General Channa Weerasooriya.
Meanwhile, the same project had one more house built for another infantryman of the MIR at Diyabeduma, Dehiattakandiya and it was warmed recently during a simple inaugural ceremony. The house, built by 5 MIR technical staff and soldiers was funded by the Regimental Centre and the MIR Seva Vanitha Branch.
Major General Janaka Priyadarshana, General Officer Commanding, 66 Infantry Division who is also from the same Regiment as the Chief Guest attended the house-warming ceremony at Diyabeduma, Dehiattakandiya together with the MIR Centre Commandant, Brigadier Anura Abeysinghe and the Commanding Officer, 5 MIR.
Within a few months, the MIR house construction project for deserving Other Ranks in the Regiment under the Phase 1 has reached its target for erection of five houses for MIR soldiers.
