The Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE), raised in 1951 marked its 71st Anniversary on 09 November 2022, giving pride of place to the memory of fallen SLE war heroes in a floral wreath-laying and a series of other activities at the SLE Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda.

The Colonel Commandant, SLE and the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, graced the anniversary main highlight as the Chief Guest. Senior Officers, Officers and other ranks of the Corps joined the commemoration, presenting a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour. A customary troop address, all rank lunch, conduct of religious observances and a Dhamma sermon added colour to the anniversary agenda.

Brigadier Manoj Madurapperuma, SLE Centre Commandant welcomed the day’s Chief Guest. The Chief Field Engineer, Major General Mahinda Jayawardane, Director General General Staff of Office of Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Anil Udaya Kumara, General Officer Commanding Engineer Division, Major General Lanka Amarapala, Senior Officers and Other Ranks participated in the anniversary events.
