Army-Built New Shrine at Sevanapitiya Temple Opened

The new shrine, built by Army troops at the request of the buddhist monks at 'Mallinda Sri Suwarna Pahana Pudabima' temple in Sevanapitiya was inaugurated on Sunday (23) amid religious rites and rituals.

At the invitation of VenTikkaanpathane Rathanadeepa, Chief Incumbent at the temple, Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Commander Security Forces – East as the Chief Guest during the annual 'Katina' pooja on the same day unveiled a plaque and opened the new shrine, completely built using technical expertise of East-based troops.

Members of the Maha Sangha, Colonel Rajiv Fernando, Chief Coordinating Civil Affairs Officer, Security Force HQ – East, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks and a gathering of devotees attended the occasion.
