Hundreds of Troops Continue Degue Eradication Project in the Western Province

Troops serving under the 14 and 61 Infantry Divisions of the Security Force HQ-West, alert to the rising threat of Dengue with the onset of heavy rainfalls, actively contributed to Dengue eradication projects covering seven Districts, including 20 MOH divisions in the Western Province, served by Security Forces - West during 12-14 October 2022.

In cooperation with the government’s National Dengue Epidemic Prevention Campaign officials, troops inspected breeding places of Dengue larva in government and private institutes, religious places, schools and other public places, inclusive of water storage tanks, flower pots and vases, garden fountains, bird baths, fridge trays, water dispenser trays, broken cisterns, discarded bottles, tins, discarded tyres, coconut shells and all possible sites.

Moreover, people were educated to take expedite Dengue preventive measures to overcome the rapid spread of mosquito breeding sites. In addition to that, people were educated on how to prevent mosquito bites by taking personal protection measures.

Around 200 Army personnel from 14 and 61 Divisions, together with the Police, several Medical Officers and Public Health Inspectors from respective areas joined the programme.
