Major General Mahinda Ranasinghe of the Special Forces (SF) assumed duties as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 59 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ MLT), amid religious blessings at the 59 Division Headquarters in Nandikadaal on Thursday (6).

The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 59 Division was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and saluted in a Guard Turnout, presented by troops as he entered the premises. Subsequently, troops of the 59 Division presented a Guard of Honor and saluted him.

Afterwards, the new GOC in his new office was invited to symbolically sign an official document to mark the assumption of his duties.

Later on, the new GOC in line with military formalities addressed all Officers and Other Ranks where he expressed his vision for the Division in future.

Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the 59 Division, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the day's event.
