To be in line with the commemoration of the upcoming 73rdAnniversary of the Sri Lanka Army (Army day), 11 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the 231 Brigade under the 23 Division with sponsorship, extended by Mr Thanoj Biyagama and members of the ‘Api Manussayo’ Association, distributed 75 dry ration packets, each worth Rs. 5,000.00 among needy families, resident in Mangalagama, Keviliyamadu and Thanthamale areas in the Gemunupura GS Division on Monday (3).

In addition, 31 pregnant women in the area also received gift packs, each worth Rs.10, 000 under the same programme, held at Sri DharmaramaViharaya, Mangalagama.

The event was initiated and organized on the instructions of the Commander 231 Brigade, Brigadier Dilupa Bandara. Social workers, Mrs Shashikala Gunarathne and Ms Madara Ranaweera coordinated the entire project.

The Civil Affairs Officer, 231 Brigade Lieutenant Colonel Dammika Weerasinghe, Overlooking Commanding Officer 11 (V) SLSR, Major Asela Yapa, soldiers and residents of the area also participated in the distribution ceremony.
