The second phase for award of Certificates of Commendation to 12 Officers and 95 Other Ranks of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) who selflessly performed their duties in the most recent turbulent times got underway at the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) auditorium on Tuesday (4).

The Phase II of the award ceremony was a follow-up of the main awarding ceremony, held at the Army Headquarters on 9 August 2022 presided by President Hon Ranil Wickramasinghe, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces who called at the Army Headquarters for the first time at the request of the Ministry of Defence and Commander of the Army.

The Phase II awarding ceremony at Panagoda, headed by Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, Security Forces - West, attended by several Senior Officers saw 12 Officers and 95 Other Ranks receive those Certificates of Commendation from the Chief Guest, Major General Deepal Pussella.

Accordingly, on behalf of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, SF-West gave away those certificates to both Officers and Other Ranks who under trying circumstances prevented the escalation of violence to defend the Constitution.

The General Officer Commanding, 14 Division, Brigadier General Staff of SFHQ-West, Brigadier Admin and Quartering and Commanders of 141 and 144 Brigades, several Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the awarding ceremony.
