New Zealand’s High Commissioner Calls at Jaffna Headquarters

High Commissioner of New Zealand for Sri Lanka, His Excellency Michael Appleton made a courtesy visit to the Security Force Headquarters -Jaffna on Monday (3) during a tour to the peninsula.
His Excellency the Ambassador and the accompanying delegation were warmly welcomed by Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna on arrival at the Security Force HQ-Jaffna.
The delegation received an overview of varying roles of the Security Forces in the peninsula, their commitment to the well-being of the civilians, efforts for promotion of peace and reconciliation, civil-military development programmes and the status quo as regards security to all in the peninsula.
Before leaving, the visiting High Commissioner of New Zealand left his compliments in the visitors’ book and made a special note, appreciating the Security Forces - Jaffna for their sheer commitment and dedication to the promotion of peace, democracy, security and justice among all the civilians in the peninsula.
Afterwards, the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna and the High Commissioner of New Zealand exchanged mementoes of goodwill and cooperation.
Brigadier General Staff and the Colonel General Staff of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna were also associated with the meeting held at the Headquarters.
