Troops of the tri-services and the Police including 242 Brigade troops of the 24 Division recently contributed to the commemoration of the ‘International Tourism Day’ by joining hands with Department of Coastal Conservation and Coastal Resources Management, Chamber of Tourism and Industry to carry out several awareness programmes along the Pottuvil lagoon and the Arugambay tourist zone.

Army troops of the 242 Brigade joined the beach cleanup projects and awareness programmes that were held at ‘Rupas Beach’ hotel at Arugambay during the day.

Under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 24 Division, Major General Saliya Amunugama, Commander, 242 Brigade, Colonel Anurudda Solangaarachchi and Civil Affairs Officer, 242 Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Prashanna de Silva, 242 Brigade troops gave the maximum support to the project.
