Attempts are being made to douse a fire that erupted in the ammunition dump at Kosgama Army Camp according to the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva as reported in the media by 8 p.m. on Sunday (5).

Firefighters with the cooperation of soldiers have thrown their full weight behind the efforts after setting up road blocks on both sides of the Kosgama – Avissawella road.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
