The 12th anniversary commemoration of the 541 Brigade HQ of the 54 Division got underway during 9-10 September with several programmes of different nature.

On the anniversary day (10), Brigadier Dasantha Munasinghe, Brigade Commander reviewed the Guard Turnout, presented on arrival at the Headquarters premises in accordance with military formalities. He was welcomed by the Major AAS Amarathunga, Commanding Officer of 12 (V) Sri Lanka Artillery.

Subsequently, he was invited to plant a Kohomba (margosa) sapling in the premises followed by group photographs, troop address and an all rank tea organized at the Other Ranks’ Mess at 541 Infantry Brigade. In conjunction with the anniversary, the toilet of the ex-combatant, Ramasamy Jay Ranjan, a rehabilitated LTTE member at Sinna Sannar of Periyamadu, Mannar was renovated by troops. The combatant had lost both of his legs while he was an LTTE member. Books, bags and other school equipment were also donated to his two children, along with two pairs of crutches on account of the anniversary.

A musical entertainment for All Ranks the same evening brought the anniversary agenda to end.
