The 571 Brigade troops of the 57 Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu with the noble objective of promoting badminton skills of Kilinochchi students took steps to distribute a considerable stock of badminton accessories to the students at four major colleges in Kilinochchi.

The sponsorship for purchase of Rs 50,000/= worth badminton shuttlecocks and rackets was given to the 571 Brigade by Mr. Shan Skanda Kumar, domiciled in the US in response to a request of Brigadier Chaminda Gamlath, Commander, 571 Brigade.

Those recipients during the recently-concluded badminton tournament of the Kilinochchi district, organized by the Security Force HQ-Mullaittivu, sought assistance of the Army to buy those badminton accessories as they are unable to raise resources for the purchase of those badminton accessories.

During a simple ceremony, 571 Brigade Commander distributed those incentives to the badminton-loving students at Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalaya, Kilinochchi Central College, Kilinochchi Hindu College and Kilinochchi St Theresa College with the coordination of school authorities.

The event, held recently at the Northern Provincial Council auditorium in Kilinochchi was attended by beneficiaries, principals, sports teachers, parents and several senior officers.
