In parallel with the 27th anniversary commemoration of the 512 Brigade HQ of the 51 Division under the Security Force HQ-Jaffna, 512 Brigade troops with patronage received from the Lions Club of Negombo Orient and the Lions Club of Jaffna Gateway, distributed free spectacles to 100 visually-impaired people in Jaffna and Kayts area and 50 pairs of school shoes to the students in the same areas on Monday (22).

The Eye Clinic section at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital screened those who deserved those free spectacles in cooperation with the 51 Division HQ and recipients of free shoes were selected in close collaboration with respective school authorities and Grama Seva officials.

Major General Udaya Kumara, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division HQ attended as the Chief Guest for the distribution of those life accessories, held at the 512 Brigade in Jaffna, along with representatives of Lions Clubs. Brigadier Thanuja Godewatte, Commander, 512 Brigade closely supervised and coordinated the project with the support of his troops.
