Construction work in progress, related to Deegawapiya Rajamaha Viharaya, sacred area and its pagoda renovation was closely supervised by Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Commander, Security Forces - East on Saturday (6).

The East Commander during his visit inspected the progress of the renovation work of the Pagoda and shared views with the staff working there. Afterwards, he closely evaluated the need of building materials, manpower and adjustments in future to bring the project to successful culmination. He also had a look at the brick production unit and inquired into their needs.

Army troops including those of the Sri Lanka Engineers, Corps of Engineer Services, together with personnel of the Civil Security Department are currently engaged in the renovation project.

The visiting East Commander was joined by Major General Saliya Amunugama, General Officer Commanding, 24 Division, Colonel Udaya Koongahapitiya, Coordinating Officer of Deegawapiya renovation project, Senior Officers, Officers and several Other Ranks.
