ASL Course Attendees Receive Wider Exposure at Air Force Academy

As a part of the academic curriculum of the Logistics Staff Course (LSC) at Army Logistics School (ASL), Student Officers following the Logistics School Course No - 8 undertook a visit to the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy (AFA) at China Bay, Trincomalee on Wednesday (10).
The delegation consisted of the Commandant, Brigadier Menaka Fernando, Chief Instructor, Senior Instructors, Directing Staff and Student Officers of the Logistics Staff Course No-8. The core objective of this visit was to provide the opportunity for the Student Officers to enrich their knowledge on Logistics, Procurement, Material, Supply Chain, Warehouse Management, Issue Procedure, etc, as practised in the Sri Lanka Air Force when dealing with logistics.
The ASL delegation was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer Junior Command and Staff College on arrival at the premises. Group Captain D.M.S.B Dasanayaka through presentations submitted an overall picture of organizational and operational functions of the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy, Junior Command and Staff College, role and tasks of the Flight Training Wing, and SLAF Logistics Management System.
During the second segment of this visit, the ASL delegation had the unique opportunity to observe the Flying Training Wing, Equipment Section, Fuel Section and the Airmen's Mess at the AFA.
The Air Force Academy during the visit showed its warm hospitality and also provided lunch at the Officers’ Mess. The ASL Commandant towards the end of the itinerary presented a memento to the Air Force Commanding Officer before the departure.
Such local visits are generally arranged to strategic locations and institutions by the ASL in order for students to receive wider exposure and first-hand knowledge and understanding of the impact, prospects, and key activities of various fields of logistics operations.
