Commonwealth Games’ Bronze Medalist Returns Home

The Bronze medal winner of men’s (55 kg) weight-lifting in Commonwealth Games, Birmingham, Corporal Y.D.I Kumara Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps of SL Army returned to the motherland on Thursday (12), together with his trainer Mr. Ruckshan Gunatilleka.
On arrival at Bandaranike International Airport port, he was warmly welcomed by the Director General Sports of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Colonel Srinath Gallage, Colonel Sports of the Directorate of Sports, Lieutenant Colonel Buddika Jayasuriya, Staff Officer I Sports - Directorate of Sports, Lieutenant Colonel Manjula Subasinghe, Secretary of the Army’s Weight Lifting and Power lifting Committee, Mr H.P.A.R Bandara, the Chairman Sri Lanka weight lifting federation, National Coach. Mr R.B Wickramasinghe, Director General of the Sports Ministry, Mr Amal Edirisooriya and several others including the medalists relatives.
During Media interactions, he further extended gratitude for the generosity of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage and all others both in the Army and the Ministry of Sports and said that he is determined to win a Gold in future events.
