Army Chief Speaks to Island-wide Cream of the Command

All island-based commanding cream of the Army had the opportunity to listen to their new Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage when he made his first interactive address to all Principal Staff Officers, Commanders of Security Forces, Forward Maintenance Area Commanders, General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Battalion Commanders and all Commanding Officers, including those serving at training schools and establishments on Wednesday (15).
During the address, the Army Chief elaborated on his plan of action, vision, strategic approaches and maintenance of national security and component as well as nation-building roles with special focus on speedy contribution to the food safety measures and promotion of cultivation and agricultural processes.
He also emphatically underlined the need to support the government’s food production project as an emergency and the contribution of Army expertise and machinery to encourage the farmers in their respective areas for enhanced agricultural roles.
Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku, Chief of Staff received the Commander of the Army on arrival at the location to address those Officers. Zoom technology simultaneously transmitted his speech to all formations across the country.
