Army Engineers Now Repairing Road in Matara District

Troops of 5 Field Sri Lanka Engineers in compliance with the Presidential directives are currently engaged in the renovation of the 1.73 km long road patch between Mediripitiya and Dombagoda in the Matara District as one more project, entrusted to the Army by the Road Development Authority.

To be in line with the government’s renovation of 100,000 km long road network in the country as specified in the ‘Sawubhagye Dekma’ policy statement of HE the President, Sri Lanka Army Engineers as directed by the Army Chief are busy repairing, expanding, carpeting and removal of soil as well as laying tar with the aim of improving road infrastructure facilities largely in rural areas.

The Chief Field Engineer, Major General Chandana Wijayasundera and the General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division, Major General Mahinda Jayawardana provide direction and guidance to those under command troops to maintain the highest standards as regards those development projects.
