Troops of the 541 Brigade of the 54 Division supported the conduct of the annual ‘Katina Cheevara Pinkama’ at Silavathura Sihala Vijayagama Sri Vijayathilaka Viharaya on Sunday (7).

The ceremony consisted of the Katina Perahera, alms-giving for 13 monks, foundation-stone laying for the new Stupa and distribution of 100 meal packets for needy civilians in the areas, surrounding the temple.

At the invitation of Brigadier K.W Suresh Perera, Brigade Commander, 541 Brigade, Major General Darshana Wijesekara, General Officer Commanding, 54 Division and several donors contributed to the successful completion of the temple arrangements.

Major General Darshana Wijesekara, participating as the Chief Guest laid the foundation stone for the new Stupa at the same occasion. Commander, 541 Brigade, Commander, 542 Brigade, Senior Officers and donors joined the day’s event.
