On information received from an informant, 542 Brigade troops of the 54 Division on Monday (18) morning recovered 98 kgs of illegal raw turmeric from the general area of Paleikuli and handed the stock over to Silawathura Police station.

Packed in 4 sacks, the stock is worth around Rs 5,88,000/-. However, no suspects were apprehended.

Further Police investigations are underway.
