In order to accelerate the national vaccination drive, a vaccination programme to inoculate the second dose was launched for civilians over the age of 30 in Kilinochchi by 57 Division troops in coordination with the Regional Director of Health Services - Kilinochchi.

Nine vaccination centres were established throughout the district and the programme was initiated on the direction of the Commander Security Forces -Mullaittvu, Major General Sisira Pilapitiya. The General Officer Commanding 57 Division Major General Priyantha Jayawardena supervised the project.

The Army, empowering the ongoing vaccination drive is now fully committed in several locations in the island, including mobile vaccination programmes on the directions of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak as per instructions of HE the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
