Another 4.3 km Stretch of Road being Widened & Developed

Following guidelines and guidance are given by the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva and under supervision of Major General Nihal Amarasekara, Army Chief Field Engineer and the Major General Chandana Wijayasundara ,General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division troops to reach the highest standards of professionalism, 5 Field Sri Lanka Engineers troops are completely re-doing a road stretch of about 4.3 km along Batahena to Millagahawita villages under the government's 100,000 km road development scheme as advised by the Presidential Secretariat.

Estimated cost of the project is Rs 2.7 m and troops are carrying out the project under close supervision of the Plant Engineer Brigade. The expansion of the road's existing width by removing soil and drilling bore holes to take away boulders and rocks alongside the road is currently being done by the troops.

With this expansion of roadsides, the people in the area would be benefited as two vehicles could easily pass each other moving towards the opposite directions.

The project started during the end of the year 2020.
