Members of Maha Sanga at Ikirigollewa Rajamaha Viharaya and Mankadawala Rajamaha Viharaya at the invitation of the Gajaba Regiment (GR) Regimental Centre transferred merits to the fallen founding father of the Gajaba Regiment, Major General Vijaya Wimalaratne, Colonel Y.M Palipana of the GR and other War Heroes, together with legendary, Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa who laid down their precious lives on 08 August 2021 at Araly point, Kayts and participated in an alms-giving, organized at the GR Regimental Centre this noon (8).

This religious event as part of several programmes on the day to coincide with their 29th death anniversary were organized as per the guidelines given by Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army, Colonel of the Regiment of Gajaba Regiment and Special Forces Regiment, General Shavendra Silva. It was attended by the Centre Commandant Brigadier Dinesh Udugama and some Staff Officers along with a few other staff at the Regimental Centre. Further, this event was conducted adhering to strict COVID-19 protective health guidelines issued by the health authorities and the respective Headquarters.
