Engineers Busy Renovating Weeraketiya Tank in Galgamuwa

Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) troops hand in hand with the Department of Agrarian Development of Kurunegala under the “Vaari Sawubhagya” (Prosperity in Irrigation) irrigational development programme are currently giving finishing touches to the renovation of the Weeraketiya Tank, situated in Galgamuwa area in Kurunegala District.

Marking a a significant contribution to development of the country's irrigation sector, Army Engineers with their technical knowhow and construction expertise as per directions given by the Commander of the Army are currently carrying out many irrigational development projects under the close guidance of the Chief Field Engineer, Major General Nihal Amarasekara.

The ongoing tank work is supervised by the Plant Engineer Brigade on the instructions of Major General Chandana Wijesundara, General Officer Commanding, Engineers Division and other concrete constructions such as sluice inlets, spill gates and canal lining work are carried out by 11 field Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) troops.

General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division closely liaises with plant Engineer troops to complete the task effectively to meet with set timeline.
