First Army Officer to Serve as Judge in Olympics - 2021 to Leave Shortly

Lieutenant Colonel D.M.T.C Dassanayake, the first Sri Lanka Army Officer to serve as a Judge in the firing events in forthcoming 32nd Olympic Games - 2020 in Tokyo During 23 July - 8 August will shortly leave for Japan amid congratulations of the Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva.
The senior officer of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps joins history as the first-ever judge selected for firing events in the Olympics, indeed a recognized honour to the Army and the country.
He is a rifle and pistol shooter from year 1995 up to now, coacher of regiment firing team from 2004conducted International and National firing meets as a capacity Refree, Jury Chairman, Jury of Appeal, from year 2003 and secretary of the ISSF shooting in Sri Lanka Army Small Arms Association.
The officer during his career has closely followed both local and foreign firing meets including South Asian Game 2006 in Colombo as a Chief Range Officer Rifle/Pistol, ISSF World Cup Shot Gun Mexico 2013 as Jury, 7th Asian Air Gun championship in Kuwait 2014 as a Jury, Rifle / Pistol, ISSF World Cup Meet 2015/2016/2017 as a shot Gun referee, Asian Games 2014 in Korea as a shot gun referee, Asian Games Indonesia 2018 as a Shot Gun Referee, 4th Asian shot gun championship in UAE 2015 as the Chairman of the Jury, ISSF world cup canal as a jury ISSF Junior world cup and served as a judge in many such events. He who has followed many related training courses has also held various appointments in the National Shooting Sport Federation from the year 2003.
He excelled in all completed courses in firing including Basic Marksman’s Course, Coach Course and many more.
