57 Division HQ has initiated awareness projects on production of organic fertilizer as per guidelines of the Commander - Security Forces -Kilinochchi, Major General Harendra Ranasinghe and the General Officer Commanding 57 Division, Major General Priyantha Jayawardana.

To assist the aforesaid requirement, Mr S Wijayan, Agriculture Instructor Officer at the Office of the Deputy Provincial Director of Agriculture, Kilinochchi delivered a comprehensive lecture in this regard to 571 Brigade Officers, Civil Affairs Officers, Commanding Officers and Intelligence Officers of all under command establishments, adhering to all COVID- 19 precautionary methods.

Further, the lecturer enlightened the process of manufacturing of high quality organic fertilizer and the methods to get high quality products by using organic fertilizer. Further he educated all Brigades on the soil condition and suitable cultivation of crops for the Northern province, amount of organic fertilizers requirement for 1 acre, correct methods of using organic fertilizers for crops, natural way of controlling weeds and suitable irrigation for cultivation, etc.
