In keeping with directions given by General Shavendra Silva, Head, NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, troops of the 52 Division in Jaffna established one more Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) for COVID patients in Navathkuli area under the close supervision of the Commander, Security Forces Jaffna- Major General Priyantha Perera and Regional Director of Health Services for the Northern Province.

This Intermediate Care Centre with all facilities has two hundred beds for admission of 200 patients at any given time. The partly-done building converted as an ICC for this purpose was renovated and developed within a short period of one month

The fully fledged Intermediate Care Centre was officially handed over to Health Authorities on 15 June 2021 by the Jaffna Commander. This occasion was graced by Mr. Kanapathypillai Mahesan, District Secretary for Jaffna, Dr. A Ketheshwarm, Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Paraneedaran, Regional Epidemiologist (Jaffna), Director of Teaching Hospital Jaffna, General Officers Commanders of 51, 52, and 55 Divisions, Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Admin and Quartering and Senior Officers.
