SLASC's New Colonel Commandant Assumes Office

Brigadier Mahesh Abeyrathne, Commander Forward Maintenance Area-East assumed office as 23rd Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) on Friday (07) during a simple ceremony at the SLASC Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda.

The incoming Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps saluted the drive-past Guard Turnout, presented by troops of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps on the arrival at the Headquarters premises. The Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps was welcomed by Colonel Ashoka Ambanpola, Center Commandant.

Afterwards, Brigadier Mahesh Abeyrathne symbolically signed a formal document and signified the acceptance of the new office, amidst chanting of 'Seth Pirith' by members of the Maha Sangha. Several senior officers were also present.

Due to the prevailing health concerns, the occasion was restricted. A brief troop address and a tea arrangement brought the formalities to end.
