Troops of the 591 Brigade under command to the 59 Division HQ of the Security Force HQ- Mullaittivu carried out a tree-planting drive to coincide with auspicious commencement of work in the Kannagi Amman Hindu temple premises in Wattappalai after the dawn of the New Year on Wednesday (15).

Varieties of saplings inclusive of Kumbuk, Ehela, Mee, Naa, etc were planted in the compound in consultation with temple clergy.

Troops of the 12 Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 14 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops prepared necessary ground arrangements with the support of equipment provided by Avalon Private Limited.

Brigadier P. D Sooriyabandara, General Officer Commanding 59 Division and Colonel Sujeewa Perera, 591 Brigade Commander closely supervised the event.¬¬ |
