Troops of 7 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), together with Intelligence troops of the 54 Division HQ in Mannar apprehended 32 kg of smuggled turmeric during a search by the troops at Mannar bridge roadblock in Mannar on Friday (2).

The suspect was travelling with the stock of raw turmeric on a CTB bus, running from Mannar to Kandy. The worth of turmeric stood at more than Rs 192,000. The suspect and turmeric were handed over to Mannar Police for further investigations. |
