Brigadier Shashika Perera assumed duties as the 9th Commander of the 642 Brigade on Wednesday (24) during a simple ceremony at the 642 Brigade Headquarters in Oddusuddan.

A formal Guard Turnout at the entrance, presented by 23 Vijayabhahu Infantry Regiment troops greeted him. He left his signature in a formal document and symbolized the occasion.

Afterwards, the newly-appointed Brigade Commander planted a Mango sapling in the compound as a symbol of memory before he joined a customary troop address and an All Rank tea.

Commanding Officer of the 23 Vijayabha Infantry Regiment & 17 (V) Gajaba Regiment and Brigade Staff Officers attended the occasion. |
