Troops of the 12 Division in Hambantota felicitated their newly-promoted Major General Prasanna Ranawaka, General Officer Commanding on Thursday (11) on his arrival in a simple ceremony with the military honours.

The newly-promoted two Star General was awarded a Guard Turnout at entrance to the divisional headquarters before he was ushered to receive the Guard of Honour, presented by 23 Gajaba Regiment troops.

Next, the newly-promoted GOC planted a sapling in the premises, followed by the customary troops address before joining an all rank tea.

Senior officers of under command Brigades, battalions and Other Ranks attended the event. |
