Troops of the 562 Brigade on instructions given by the Commander Security Forces - Wanni, Major General Priyantha Perera and the General Officer Commanding, 56 Division Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, launched several disinfection programmes in and around public places at Vavuniya on 29 December 2020 in order to suppress the spread of the COVID -19 virus.

Accordingly, 562 Brigade troops under the supervision of the Commander 562 Brigade Colonel Senaka Premawansa, sterilized public places, such as bus stands, railway stations, welfare centres, state and private banks, market places, public assembly points and three-wheeler parks, etc in Vavuniya township area.

17 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops carried out these disinfection campaigns with the assistance of Vavuniya Police, Public Health Inspectors, Special Task Force personnel and Urban Council representatives in respective suburbs and locations. |
