6 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps troops, attached to the Security Force HQ - East immediately attended to the repairs of a split caused to the Kallampattu tank bund in the general area of Morawewa due to torrential rains and cyclonic weather during 2-3 December.

Troops together Divisional Secretariat and Irrigation Department officials and staffers repaired the damaged tank bund on the directions of the Commander, Security Forces-East Major General Chinthaka Gamage.

A few days back, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) personally supervised emergency preparations in regard to the cyclone Buravi and gave necessary instructions after visiting the troops in the Wanni region. |
