613 Brigade troops of the 61 Division at the request of medical authorities in Weligama and Karandeniya Base Hospitals converted those two hospitals to be used as Intermediate Care Centers for treatment of COVID-19 patients in the event of any increase of patients in future.

On the instructions of Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division and through close coordination of Colonel Upul Kodithuwakku, Commander, 613 Brigade carried out the project and converted the wards to be Intermediate Care Centers for Covid-19 patients in keeping with the government's emergency project in the event of any mass scale admissions. Similar conversions were also made earlier in Kamburupitiya hospital.

Troops of 613 Brigade, 3 (V) Gamunu Watch and 14 (V) Gamunu Watch actively participated in the programme. |
