Troops of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment of the 543 Brigade in the 54 Division in Mannar apprehended one suspect, together with 20 kgs of seashells during a search, conducted at the roadblock in the general area in Mannar on Wednesday (4).

The suspect was transporting seashells from Vedithalathivu towards Pesalai in a Canter lorry when the troops signalled it to stop for a search. The suspect and those smuggled seashells were handed over to Mannar Police station for onward arrangements.
