Major General Dhammika Jayasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni on Saturday (26) toured 54 Division area of responsibility in Mannar to take stock of the security situation and supportive raids, arrests and operations launched earlier in the week by the 54 Division.

Having received a briefing on illegal activities from the General Officer Commanding and respective Brigade Commanders, the visiting Wanni Commander underlined the importance of curbing those illegal activities to the fullest extent possible.

Later, he visited Moondampiddi fishing harbour in the 541 Brigade area and interacted with leaders in the local fishing community. He also inspected the security measures along the south coast of Mannar Island in 543 Brigade area of responsibility and commended the high level of alertness, demonstrated by 7 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops that led to the detection of a haul of Kerala Cannabis.

Major General Indrajith Bandara, GOC 54 Division and Brigadier Pradeep Kulathunga, Commander, 541 Brigade accompanied the SF Commander during the visit. |
