Catholic Priests Get Broader View of COVID-19 Control Work

Island-wide 40 Catholic priests, inclusive of several priests of foreign congregations, convened by the Conference of Major Religious Support of Sri Lanka (CMRS) Friday morning (10) at SEDEC-Borella received a comprehensive picture of the roles played by members of the armed forces in the control of COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka.
Brigadier Chandana Wickramasingha, Military Spokesman and Director Media at the Army HQ on behalf of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), headed by Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, presented an overview of the sequence of developments, measures adopted for control of the epidemic and how the armed forces were entrusted the task of controlling it.
Rev Fr Dilan Fernando, Chairman, CMRS invited the NOCPCO to enlighten the clergy fraternity from various sects in this regard as the country has been affected by this pandemic. Interactive discussions that followed enabled the attendees to get a better picture on COVID-19 transmission in Sri Lanka, and how different sectors of the country worked together to reach a satisfactory level. |
