SLAC New Colonel Commandant Assumes Office at Regimental HQ

Major General Prathap Thilakerathna took office as the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) on Monday (1) at the SLAC Regimental Headquarters in Colombo 15. Major General Prathap Thilakerathne is currently serving as General Officer Commanding, 12 Division.
The new Colonel Commandant was warmly received by Brigadier M.S Devapriya, Centre Commandant, SLAC, together with Lieutenant Colonel S.J Samarasinghe, Commanding Officer, 1 SLAC at the main entrance. A Guard Turnout in accordance with military formalities saluted him at the entrance to HQ.
Afterwards, Major General Prathap Thilakerathna in his new office during a brief religious ceremony assumed after lighting of the traditional oil lamp in the presence of SLAC Council Members and Commanding Officers.
Setting out his scope of work, the new Colonel Commandant after a while addressed Officers and Other Ranks and left memories by planting a sandalwood sapling in the premises before joining an all Rank tea arrangement at the ORS' Mess.
Later, he separately addressed Officers and outlined the importance of cohesion among officers for the betterment of the Corps while maintaining high standards among them as has been the practice in the SLAC.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the brief ceremony. |
