Considering the national emergency circumstances during the spread and control of the pandemic COVID - 19, and to provide necessary blood categories for any urgent requirement in the event of any emergency, the Officers and the troops of the 9 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment of Gothameegama, Yala - Kataragama under the 12 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-Cen) gave away blood to the Blood bank to the Hambantota Hospital on Thursday (9).

Organized on the instructions of the Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, the blood donation campaign saw more than 40 Army personnel including Officers volunteering to donate their blood for use in the event of any emergency.

According to the schedule, second and third donation rounds will be conducted on 16 April 2020 and 21 April 2020 at 23 Gajaba Regiment - Yala and 3 Sri Lanka National Guard - Kataragama respectively. It is hoped that this effort would assist any emergency for treatment of urgent cases during these curfew hours. |
