Afghanistan Ambassador Learns About Post-Conflict Role

HE M. Ashraf Haidari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan paid a courtesy call on Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander, Security Forces – Jaffna, on Tuesday (10) during a visit to the peninsula.
The ambassadorial delegation, headed by the Ambassador during cordial discussions learnt about the role of Security Forces in the post-conflict nation-building and reconciliation efforts with special focus on empowerment of civilians in the north.
The Ambassador appreciated the Sri Lankan government’s efforts at post-conflict development and the role of the Security Forces in Jaffna for promotion of communal harmony, peace and co-existence.
Jaffna Commander also gave a comprehensive briefing on the current security scenario, land release, demining, civil-military coordination and other matters of concern pertaining to the Security Forces – Jaffna.
It was also highlighted during the discussion that the two countries have things to learn from past experiences. The Brigadier General Staff, Security Forces - Jaffna Brigadier Prasanna Ranawake also participated in the discussions. |
