Central Troops Bring down Record 6 Tons of Plastic Pollutants from 'Sri Paada' Summit

Troops serving under the Security Force HQ-Central in collaboration with 'Manusath Derana' community project collected more than 6 tons of plastic pollutants, left behind along the Nallathanniya to Sripada road patch during a mega 'Shramadana' project on Saturday (7) under the guidance of Major General Laksiri Waduge, Commander, Security Forces-Central.
Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army on request recommended the project with the TV channel and gave his blessings to the project.
300 plus troops from different establishments of the Security Force HQ Central joined their hands with civilians for this community-oriented work and collected those pollutants and handed them over for re-cycling after bringing them down from the summit of the mountain. The project continued for two days. (March 7-8). |
