New Kilinochchi Commander Assumes Office amid Religious Observances

Major General Jayantha Gunarathne, the new Commander Security Forces - Kilinochchi assumed his office as the 14th Commander of the Security Forces - Kilinochchi on Thursday (24) during a simple ceremony, rich with military honours and religious blessings.
A Guard Turnout and a subsequent Guard of Honour parade were presented to the newly-appointed Commander, Security Forces- Kilinochchi by the troops of 7 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) as military formalities soon after he arrived at the SFHQ-Kilinochchi.
Religious observances of all four major denominations got underway afterwards before he signed a formal document to denote the acceptance of his new office after he lit the customary oil lamp to inaugurate his office as the new Commander, Security Forces- Kilinochchi. He later on planted a sapling inside the SFHQ-KLN premises and added memories. After an All Rank tea, he addressed the troops at the HQ auditorium and set out his plan of work and future roles.
Commander Forward Maintenance Area – Kilinochchi, General Officer Commanding 66 Division, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the day’s event.
He succeeded Major General G. Vijitha Ravipriya. |
