Major General A.L.P. S Thilakarathna assumed office as the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 12 Division in Hambantota on Monday (23) during a simple ceremony.

The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding was presented military honours including a Guard Turnout by Divisional troops on his arrival. It followed a Guard of Honour parade in conformity with military traditions.

Afterwards, the newly appointed GOC signed an official document at the auspicious minute amid religious blessings, followed by a symbolic sapling planting and the customary troop address.

Staff officers of the Division, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks attended the occasion. |
