NDDCB Drug Education Officer Educates Army Personnel at Army Hospital

A total of 30 Officers and 210 Other Ranks as part of the ongoing Presidential Task Force's ' Drug Prevention' national drive, listened to an awareness lecture on ‘National Drug Prevention’, organized by the Directorate of Psychological Operations in close cooperation with the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board at the Colombo Army Hospital auditorium on Thursday (27).

Mr. Chamara Pradeep Karunarathna, Drug Education and Information Officer of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB) delivered the lecture in the presence of its Chairman, Prof. Saman Amarasinghe who was also invited to the occasion as a distinguished guest.

Major General Indrajith Vidyananda, Quarter Master General (QMG) at the Army Headquarters, Brigadier B. B Randeniya, Director, Colombo Army Hospital Administration and Maintenance, Brigadier M.M Kithsiri, Director Psychological Operations joined the arrangement as special invitees.

The island-wide drive, being launched at all Security Force Headquarter levels by the Directorate of Psychological Operations (Psy Ops) on the directions of the Commander of the Army to be in line with the conceptual nation of the President Maithripala Sirisena’s ongoing ‘‘National Drug Prevention Week’, intends to free Sri Lanka of all intoxicants and reduce the usage of alcohol, tobacco and smuggled narcotics, etc. The Army has already launched several such drug eradication awareness programmes inside all Security Force Headquarter levels in the past few months. |
