125 SLEME Recruits Pass Out in Elegant Spectacle

Drill, Taekwondo, Band, PT displays and a mini Tattoo added colour and elegance to the Passing Out Parade (POP) of 125 new recruits of the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Regiment (SLEME) who completed the Recruit Training Course No - 43. The PoP with all formal ceremonials took place recently at the SLEME Training School in Gannoruwa, Peradeniya.
Brigadier V. Weerakkodi, Director SLEME as the Chief Guest was received on arrival by Colonel T.M.G.G.S Tennakoon, Overlooking Commandant at the SLEME Training School before he paid a floral tribute to the SLEME War Heroes' monument. Afterwards, the day's Chief Guest reviewed the parade of the new recruits and received their salute from the special dais. Those recruits underwent a comprehensive three-month long training in the premises with special focus on electrical and mechanical aspects in the organization.
A large gathering of their parents, relatives and well-wishers were present at the ceremony in addition to a representative group of SLEME officers and other ranks. Special merit awards of excellence were presented on the same occasion to Private S.D.K.N Saputhanthri (Best All-rounder), Private W.A Peshanka (Best Shooter) and Private S.L Senanayake (Best Physical form).
Upon culmination of the PoP, everyone witnessed the mammoth display of drills, Taekwondo, band, PT and a mini tattoo, presented by Army troops. |
